What’s for breakfast?

Dear Olivia: I’m planning a day rafting trip out of Ashland, Oregon and need a quick, easy, and delicious breakfast before hitting the river. Where should I go? -Lucas

Dear Lucas: I dialed some river guide friends of mine who work at Indigo Creek Outfitters. They have informed me of their three favorite “breakfasts-before-you-go-rafting” Ashland locations. These are all places that serve great food with to-go options and aren’t over-the-top fancy. Casual and tasty is the theme here.

  1. Ruby’s – The queen of breakfast burritos in all of Southern Oregon must be Ruby’s. Call ahead and they’ll have your burrito wrapped up and ready to charge toward the river. River guides everywhere flock to Ruby’s on their mornings off. And if you aren’t headed to the river, their Bloody Mary’s aren’t bad, either.
  2. The Breadboard – “The Mountains are Calling, and I must go…” Well actually that would be the “Mountain Man” from Brother’s, a delicious biscuits, gravy, egg, and sausage medley that will provide peak caloric intake as you head toward the rivers and mountains. If you don’t mind your friends making fun of you, you might consider the “Jr. Mountain Man,” which in other places would still be considered a normal-sized plate of food.
  3. Brothers – This might be the most classic Ashland breakfast joint and of the three mentioned here, it’s best to take a seat to fully appreciate Brother’s. Simple, delicious food and the most awesome Eggs Benedict in town.

Enjoy your Ashland rafting trip!
